for a long time technology, computer technology, digital technology, was the relative of the hacker alone people were really into it that was theirs, big business laughed at ibm said that they'll never be a market for more than 20 computers, in the world there is no market for that personal computing, it was really created by hackers for hackers they play with this stuff, then business, industry, government started saying oh wait a minute !, there might be some money to be made here and they started to take it over first by commercializing...
over the last decade commercialization of the internet has exploded into a multi-bilion dollar industry, promting government to argue that they must control the internet to ensure the econmy safety in an international organization named ICANN, was thus created by the united state government in 1998 based in Marina del rey california ICANN controls the 13 computers which manage the domain names over the world, whoever controls those 13 computers controls the world wide web, the rest of the world opposed to this united state dominated contol of ICANN and so it was agreed that the UN would create an international body in 2006 to run ICANN and ensure equal internet availability to all countries,but when the time came to relinquish its power however the united state department of comerce instead declared that the US would keep control of ICANN indefinitely the united states has since made conterversial , use of this self declared monoply on the internet such as taking over the countries codes for iraq and kazakhstan without requiring consent from either countries, and by asking popular search engines to hand over private user information and internet activity patterns, the internet is quickly becoming less of a public information sharing network and more of a corporate tool for profit and a government tool for control.
